What is Massage?
Put simply massage is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body (muscles, tendons and ligaments).Massage is one of the the oldest forms of physical medicine known to man and can be traced back to the early Chinese medical manuscripts around 400BC.

How Does Massage Work

Massage works its magic on the body on a dual action basis

1) A mechanical action is created by moving the body's soft tissues with pressure and/or stretching. This action helps to cleanse the body of toxins and other undesirable deposits. This allows fibrous tissue to be broken up and stiff joints can be made looser.

2) A reflex reaction can occur in the body at a different site to where the massage is applied. This is because different parts of the body connect by nerve pathways or energy zones known as 'meridians'. Reflex reaction allows one part of the body to be treated by massaging another. e.g. by massaging the feet, ailments in the abdominals can be relieved. (as is experienced in reflexology)

What is Massage Good For
